Do you have the discipline, tactical experience, and instinct-driven discipline required to deploy a working dogs in real-world operations? Black Dog America is seeking elite K9 Handlers with proven backgrounds in K9 Explosive or Firearms Detection operations.
Position Overview
As a K9 Trainer, you will lead the development and execution of advanced canine training programs for detection, patrol, and tactical response. You’ll work closely with handlers, law enforcement units, and operational leads to ensure readiness, precision, and effectiveness in high-stakes environments.
This role is contingent on final contract award. Selected candidates will be prioritized for immediate onboarding upon confirmation.
Candidate Requirements
- MUST possess a Certified Explosive or Firearm Detection Dog.
- Minimum 2 years of as a Working Dog Handler
- Documented current K9 Team Detection Certification.
- Certificate of Graduation from a Canine Detection School
- Must have a valid PILB Work Card – Security Officer (K9 Handler)
Preferred Skills
- Military of Law Enforcement K9 Experience
- Familiarity with recordkeeping, training logs, and certification protocols.

Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on K9 operations experience in law enforcement or military service.
- Documented expertise in canine behavior, obedience, scent work, and bite work.
- Instructor-level certifications preferred (e.g., POST, NPCA, NAPWDA, USPCA, or military equivalents).
- Strong command presence, communication, and adaptability in high-stress scenarios.
Preferred Skills
- Experience training multiple breeds across mission types (e.g., dual-purpose, single-purpose).
- Familiarity with record keeping, training logs, and certification protocols.

Firearms Instructor

Black Dog America is seeking experienced, certified Firearms Instructors to lead dynamic, mission-ready firearms training courses in support of law enforcement, military, and protective services contracts. This opportunity is contingent upon a pending contract award—qualified candidates will be prioritized for immediate onboarding upon confirmation.
Role Overview
In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and executing live-fire and classroom-based instruction tailored to operational realities. You will train tactical personnel in safe handling, marksmanship fundamentals, advanced shooting drills, and weapons retention under stress-based conditions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct firearms instruction across pistol, rifle, and shotgun platforms.
- Develop curriculum that aligns with POST, NRA LE, or military standards.
- Facilitate live-fire range operations with strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Evaluate and remediate student performance through structured coaching and assessments.
- Maintain detailed training records, student evaluations, and equipment logs.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of law enforcement, military, or tactical firearms instruction experience.
- Certifications from recognized programs (e.g., NRA LE, POST, Sig Sauer Academy, Federal LE Training Center).
- Excellent communication, coaching, and instructional design skills.
- Ability to adapt curriculum to diverse trainee backgrounds and mission needs.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience instructing CQB, low-light/no-light, or force-on-force scenarios.
- Medical background (e.g., EMT, Tactical Medic).
- Armorer certification or firearms maintenance expertise.
