MRDS Pistol Fundamentals and Application
Performance-Based Training for Security and Response Personnel
This course introduces security personnel to the operation and employment of pistols equipped with Micro Red Dot Sights (MRDS). Designed for armed security officers and special response personnel, this class builds proficiency in presentation, target acquisition, and accuracy using optic-equipped duty pistols.
Students will learn how to properly draw, present, and engage from multiple ready positions including holster, low ready, compressed ready, and temple index. Emphasis is placed on establishing a consistent draw, proper grip, sight acquisition, and trigger control to maximize the MRDS platform’s advantages.
Participants will gain a clear understanding of the “why” behind each technique and develop confidence in utilizing the MRDS in both daylight and low-light conditions. Live-fire drills reinforce principles of accuracy, speed, and accountability under realistic security scenarios.
This is a performance-based training course — all participants will be evaluated through practical exercises and a qualification course of fire.
